For experienced one-design and high-performance dinghy sailors, the American 19 skiff is the most demanding boat in the Hatteras Community Sailing fleet — and the most rewarding to sail well.
This is not a boat for the casual or rusty sailor. Experience verification is required before checkout, and we'll have an honest conversation with you about conditions before you go out. Pamlico Sound can be deceptively technical, and the American 19 demands respect.
If you've got the skills and want a genuine performance sailing session on the Sound, this is it. Rental fees support Hatteras Community Sailing's 501(c)3 mission and fleet operations.

Hatteras Community Sailing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Your program fee funds our youth sailing scholarships, community sailing days, and fleet maintenance — keeping sailing accessible to everyone on the Outer Banks. No child is turned away for inability to pay.
