Sunset Sail
Sunsets over Pamlico Sound are among the most photographed moments on the Outer Banks — and you're going to watch one from the deck of a catamaran.
Hatteras Community Sailing's Sunset Sail is our most popular community charter. We depart from Buxton Harbor as the light begins to soften, sailing west across the Sound while Hatteras Island glows behind you. Activities include sailing, photography, relaxing, and complimentary drinks as the sky does its thing.
Duration: 2 hours. Runs nightly, weather permitting. If conditions are not favorable on your reserved evening, we will work to find another time during your stay — or refund your deposit if we cannot make it happen.
What's Included - Licensed USCG captain — experienced, local, and knows the Sound - Junior sailor mate — crew support aboard (works for tips, always appreciated) - Cooler with ice — bring your own drinks and snacks - Porta-pot or marine head — vessel equipped for comfort - Bluetooth speaker — your playlist, your sail - Chloe — Capt. Jay's golden retriever; first come, first served
As with all Hatteras Community Sailing programs, your charter fee directly supports free and reduced-cost youth sailing for Hatteras Island kids.

Hatteras Community Sailing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Your program fee funds our youth sailing scholarships, community sailing days, and fleet maintenance — keeping sailing accessible to everyone on the Outer Banks. No child is turned away for inability to pay.
