Cape Explorers Camp

Your family is on the Outer Banks — one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in the country, surrounded by water on every side. Cape Explorers Camp puts your kid in it.

Every morning session puts young visitors on the water with our instructors, learning real skills in a real ocean environment: boat handling, navigation basics, reading wind and weather, and the kind of confidence that only comes from actually doing it. By Friday, they are not tourists anymore. They are Cape explorers.

Week-long program, Monday through Friday, morning sessions. Ages 8–16. All experience levels welcome — no prior sailing knowledge required. Limited spots available each week.

Here's something worth knowing: your program fee does double duty. Hatteras Community Sailing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and every dollar from visiting families directly subsidizes free spots for local Hatteras Island youth who otherwise couldn't access this kind of instruction.
